I hold my 3 day first aid certificate and I am Disclosure Scotland checked. I have a range of testimonials over a number of years supporting my honesty and integrity.
I began riding before I could walk and have never left the saddle. Moving from ponies to horses when I was 12 with my first ex-racer, I have owned and ridden a variety of horses since then. My passion is eventing, which I enjoy with my young ISH gelding Jack who is 16.3. I currently compete at BE100, although luck hasn’t always been on my side with Jack being injured so I haven’t been out as much as I would have liked recently.
I have a sympathetic yet effective style of riding and experience with many different horses and ponies across a variety of disciplines. I am very flexible in my approach and have good problem-solving skills.
I have always had a thirst for knowledge in all things equestrian, progressing up through the pony club test series where I have achieved the highest level of horse and pony care available and am looking forward to sitting the highest of the ridden tests when Jack is ready. I have always had a keen interest in the science side of animal management and have experience and practice working with vets and treating a wide variety of injuries and ailments.
I work with a lovely mix of customers within one hours drive of Lockerbie. I have experience of working with hunt horses, dressage horses, show jumpers, ex racers and eventers. I have had dogs at home all of my life - boxers, beagles and mixed breeds. I am used to caring for chickens, have some experience with sheep, lambing and clipping. I have worked with cattle and have some milking experience too.

"We’ve been using Maddy’s services on our small yard for a few months & I couldn’t be without her now. Maddy is punctual, extremely fastidious & does her duties to the letter. She is a quiet & efficient rider, who informs me of every change, good or bad, in our horses & Maddy leaves our yard absolutely spotless. I would not hesitate to recommend Maddy to anyone, as long as they didn’t steal her for too long!"

CALM, KIND & PATIENT
I couldn't recommend Maddy highly enough. We have a mare who fully hates having her mane plaited!!! But Maddy is so calm, kind and patient and managed to plait her beautifully without too much fuss. Leaving our mare relaxed and ready to compete. Will definitely be calling on her services again.

HONEST & HARDWORKING
I have known Maddy for many years and she is a very honest and hardworking person who has a great affinity with animals and is an experienced and kind rider who brings out the best in her horses. Although she may be young, Maddy is very mature and puts the needs of her animals ahead of all else.
